Born in Chaos introduces various new recipes and processing methods for items. This guide covers all known ways to craft, smelt, blast, smoke, campfire cook, and stonecut items added by the mod.
Crafting
The mod adds 127 new crafting recipes. These recipes often involve new materials like Black Argillite and Fired Black Argillite to create decorative blocks and functional items.
Key crafting recipes include:
- Argillite Lamp: Combine 4 Fired Black Argillite, 4 Glass Pane, and 1 Glowstone Dust to make 4 Argillite Lamps.
- Black Argillite: Use 1 Nether Quartz, 2 Cobbled Deepslate, and 1 Clay to produce 4 Black Argillite.
- Black Argillite Brick: Craft 4 Black Argillite Bricks from 4 Fired Black Argillite.
- Black Argillite Brick Slab: Use 3 Black Argillite Bricks to get 6 Black Argillite Brick Slabs.

- Blue Ice: Combine 4 Permafrost Shards to create 1 Blue Ice.
- Bone: Convert 1 Bundle of Bones into 8 Bones, or 1
Gnawed Bones into 6 Bones. - Bone Handle: Combine 1 Dark Rod, 1 Dark Metal Nugget, and 1 Bone to create a Bone Handle.
- Bone Heart: Craft 1 Bone Heart from 5 Bones and 1 Fused Bone.
- Bone Meal: Obtain 6 Bone Meal from 1 Fused Bone, or 10 Bone Meal from 1 Nightmare Stalker Skull or 1
Shattered Skull. - Bundle of Bones: Craft 1 Bundle of Bones from 8 Bones and 1 String.
- Campfire: Combine 3 Sticks, 1 Fire Light Dust, and 3 Scorched Logs to create a Campfire.
Cobweb Cover: Craft 5 Cobweb Covers from 4 Strings and 1 Cobweb.
Blasting
Two recipes are available through the blasting process:
- Dark Metal Ingot: Blast 1 Pile of Dark Metal to get 1 Dark Metal Ingot.
- Dark Metal Nugget: Blast 1 Piece of Dark Metal to get 1 Dark Metal Nugget.
Campfire Cooking
Two items can be cooked over a campfire:
Fried Maggot: Cook 1 Corpse Maggot to get 1 Fried Maggot.- Smoked Monster Flesh: Cook 1
Monster Flesh to get 1 Smoked Monster Flesh.
Smelting
Three smelting recipes are added:
- Cracked Black Argillite Brick: Smelt 1 Black Argillite Brick to get 1 Cracked Black Argillite Brick.
- Fired Black Argillite: Smelt 1 Black Argillite to get 1 Fired Black Argillite.
- Fried Maggot: Smelt 1 Corpse Maggot to get 1 Fried Maggot.
Smithing Transformation
Six smithing transformation recipes are available, primarily for creating new weapons and armor:
§6Carrot Sword: Combine 1 Transformative Flower, 1 
§6Sweet Sword, and 1 Carrot.- §6Dark Metal Boots: Use 1 Smithing Template, 1 Netherite Boots, and 1 Dark Metal Armor Plate.
- §6Dark Metal Chestplate: Use 1 Smithing Template, 1 Netherite Chestplate, and 1 Dark Metal Armor Plate.
- §6Dark Metal Helmet: Use 1 Smithing Template, 1 Netherite Helmet, and 1 Dark Metal Armor Plate.
- §6Dark Metal Leggings: Use 1 Smithing Template, 1 Netherite Leggings, and 1 Dark Metal Armor Plate.
- §6Icy Sweetness: Combine 1 Transformative Flower, 1
§6Frostbitten Blade, and 1 Sugar.
Smoking
Four items can be processed using a smoker:
- Fried Maggot: Smoke 1 Corpse Maggot to get 1 Fried Maggot.
- Smoked Fish: Smoke 1 Rotten Fish to get 1 Smoked Fish.
Smoked Flesh: Smoke 1 Rotten Flesh to get 1 Smoked Flesh.- Smoked Monster Flesh: Smoke 1 Monster Flesh to get 1 Smoked Monster Flesh.
Stonecutting
Sixteen stonecutting recipes are introduced for various Black Argillite and Fired Black Argillite blocks, allowing for more precise block shaping:
- Black Argillite Brick: Stonecut 1 Fired Black Argillite to get 1 Black Argillite Brick.
- Black Argillite Brick Slab: Stonecut 1 Black Argillite Brick or 1 Fired Black Argillite to get 2 Black Argillite Brick Slabs.
