Loading Big Cannons and Working with Quick-Firing Breeches
Loading big cannons and working with quick-firing breeches involves various methods, from handloading to full automation. Big cannons are multiblock structures built from various cannon blocks and materials. They are powered by Create's kinetic system.
Loading a Quick-Firing Breech
The Quick-Firing Breech enables rapid reloading of assembled big cannons. To operate it, right-click the side of the breech to open or close it. First, load the projectile by right-clicking the open side of the breech. Next, load the propellant. After loading both munitions, close the breech. Big Cartridges are recommended for faster reloading. Once loaded, the big cannon can be fired. When the cannon fires, any remaining munitions, such as spent
Big Cartridge cases, will be automatically ejected.
Automating Quick-Firing Breeches
Mechanical Arms can reload a Quick-Firing Breech. To set the arm's output, right-click the
Cannon Mount. For the arm to function, the Quick-Firing Breech must be closed; the arm will not load the big cannon if the breech is open. After the cannon fires, the arm will automatically extract empty cartridges if a deposit area is provided. Deposit areas should include an empty
Big Cartridge filter to prevent item mismanagement.
Loading Big Cannons with Create Contraptions
Create contraptions, such as Mechanical Pistons, Gantries, and Rope Pulleys, can also load big cannons. These contraptions can pull munition blocks out of big cannons, depending on the connectivity of certain blocks. Unlike the
Cannon Loader, other blocks can be attached to these contraptions without affecting cannon loading, though only aligned munition blocks can be inserted into big cannons.
Handloading Tools
Handloading tools offer a convenient way to load big cannons. Munitions can be inserted directly into assembled big cannons. Handloading tools can also interact with assembled big cannons.
Loading Big Cannons
Cannon Loaders function similarly to Mechanical Pistons, using Piston Extension Poles to extend their reach. They require a head to be useful, such as a
Ram Head or a
Worm Head. The
Ram Head is typically used for loading. However, if the cannon needs to be unjammed, a
Worm Head can be attached. Before reloading a cannon using a loader, the cannon must be disassembled. When loading, the loader mechanism, the munitions, and the cannon must all be precisely aligned on the same axis.
